OUTTHERE · PRIVACY

Your possibilities. Your information.

Updated October 26, 2026

This policy describes the current OUTTHERE MVP at aypz.co, operated by James Pleasants. OUTTHERE helps you build a board of things you want to do and connect with other people.

Information we collect

We collect your account identity and verified email; the name, location, bio, experiences, uploaded photos, interests, and status updates you choose to enter; connections and referral requests; and crew-event sign-ups. Our hosting and authentication providers also process technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, and security logs to run and protect the service.

Google sign-in

If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your account identifier, name, profile picture, and email with our authentication provider, Clerk. We use these details to authenticate you and connect you to your OUTTHERE account. We request only basic profile and email access, not access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or Drive. You can revoke the Google connection in your Google Account settings.

What other people can see

Publishing your board makes your chosen profile details and board items visible to anyone with your public profile link, including people who are not signed in. Signed-in members can discover your profile and copy experiences onto their own boards. Later additions can appear in your accepted friends’ feeds; original onboarding selections do not become feed posts.

Your email and private onboarding answers are not included in your public board. If you request a referral, the member you choose can see your name and verified email. Existing private or friends-only information is not automatically published to your new board.

How we use and process information

We use information to provide accounts, save and display boards, manage connections and membership, process event sign-ups, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. Clerk processes authentication, Vercel hosts the application and uploaded board photos, and Turso stores product data. These providers process information as needed to deliver their services. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or necessary to address fraud or threats to safety.

The current board onboarding does not use a voice guide or AI recommendation agent. If you use a retained legacy AI or voice feature, the information you provide to that feature is sent to OpenAI for processing. Historical answers may remain stored privately. This policy will be updated if new features change how information is used.

Photos you attach to your board are public and can be viewed by anyone with the photo link. We resize uploads and remove embedded metadata, including location metadata, before storing them. Removing a photo from a card does not immediately delete the stored file or other members’ copies.

Recommendation testing

Our founder-only NYC experiment matches published board interests and profile city to a reviewed opportunity list. When enabled, a test text sends the configured founder phone number and recommendation message to Twilio for SMS delivery. We retain the opportunity ID, attempt time, delivery-request state, delivery status, provider reference, and a keyed hash of the pilot phone number to prevent repeat sends and honor pauses. When connected, replies such as SAVE, NEXT, WHY, and FRIENDS are processed automatically. SAVE adds the last suggestion to your public board. We retain the recognized command, processing state and provider message ID, but do not store the incoming text body in our database. Twilio processes message content and phone numbers under its own retention policies. STOP pauses texts and START resumes them. The pilot does not automatically message other members, and the inbox is not monitored by a person.

Cookies and local storage

OUTTHERE and Clerk use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, protect sessions, and recover unfinished work. Signing out ends your active access; it does not delete your stored board.

Retention and your choices

We retain account and product information while providing the service. Removing an item hides it from your board and feed, but the underlying record may remain in storage. Copies other members have added to their boards are separate items. Deleting a Clerk login does not currently automatically delete OUTTHERE’s product records.

You can edit your profile, update or remove board items, and manage connections in the app. For access, correction, or deletion requests, contact pleasantsjames@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before handling a request. Some information may need to be retained for security or legal obligations, and backup copies may remain until replaced.
